As the Conservation Data Scientist in the Center for Conservation Innovation at Defenders, Pui Yu analyzes and synthesizes geospatial, remote sensing, ecological, and administrative datasets to evaluate and improve conservation practices.
Before joining CCI, Pui-Yu worked as a postdoctoral researcher at WWF-US. In particular, she worked on mapping global forest change using remote sensing in collaboration with the Trillion Trees, which is a partnership between WWF-UK, WCS, and BirdLife International. She have also worked with Winrock International in successfully obtaining a grant to map the historical land cover change in northeastern Liberia in support of a REDD+ project; as well as briefly at the IUCN.
