WRI’s “Data into Action” strategy combines open data platforms, information and communication technologies, artificial intelligence, and human networks to drive more transparent and accountable management of the planet’s resources. As part of this strategy, WRI launched Resource Watch in 2018. Resource Watch is a free, open data visualization platform that provides journalists, analysts, decision makers, and students the opportunity to explore more than 270 available data sets, 41+ of which are near real-time, on topics ranging from climate change to human migration, deforestation to air quality, agriculture to energy and much more. As Resource Watch grows its data catalogue and technical capabilities, the Resource Watch community grows as well - becoming an even more engaged force for creating sustainable, actionable change in the world.
