Abstract

Off the west coast of North America lives the most endangered orca population in the world: the southern residents. These salmon-eating orcas are on the brink of extinction from a lack of their major food source. Restoring streams that feed into the Pacific, planting trees that benefit regional habitat and keep waters clean, and engaging the next generation of orca caretakers will help these pods have the food and clean water they need to thrive. Defenders of Wildlife has joined the Bonneville Environmental Foundation in supporting the Promise the Pod campaing, which is bringing together multiple habitat restoration programs with one goal: Save the orcas we all love.
