In partnership with Atlas Public Policy, Georgetown’s Massive Data Institute, and Healthy Gulf, EPIC used artificial intelligence to glean quantitative data from Army Corps of Engineers 404 Public Notices. The data is updated daily and available through the Wetlands Impact Tracker . Gabe will talk about the project and give insights on the broader issue of wetland data fragmentation.

Gabriel Watson joined the Environmental Policy Innovation Center in the Fall of 2022. As the Data Science & Applications Manager, his work focuses on environmental data and technology, developing analysis and applications, and assisting his EPIC team members with data support. He has a passion for racial justice and increasing stewardship of the natural world. Since joining EPIC, he’s built a dashboard tracking water infrastructure spending, testified before the Maryland Senate, and supported nonprofits and government agencies in actualizing equity through public comment, data analysis, and convenings. Previously, he spent three years at The Commons, supporting watershed organizations with web applications and data journalism, and worked for USC’s Equity Research Institute as a Data Management Specialist. He graduated in 2018 from Occidental College with a B.A. in Economics and Urban and Environmental Policy.
