Abstract

Laws and regulations that protect imperiled species and their habitats are often limited by inadequate monitoring and enforcement. We developed Habitat Patrol to help address this critical need. Habitat Patrol is a free, public web application that lets users run algorithms developed by CCI to automatically identify habitat loss using satellite imagery. Agencies, conservation organizations, and the public can use this tool to detect ongoing habitat loss, or catalog historic loss within their own areas of interest.
